Rear Admiral David R. Ruble is a native of Richlands, Virginia,
and a graduate of the University of Arkansas. He was
commissioned and Ensign, Supply Corps, United States Navy, in
September 1965 and holds a Master's degree in Business
Administration, with distinction, from Michigan State
University.
His naval career began with service aboard the aircraft carrier
USS Enterprise (CVN65), serving with the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Later tours of sea duty included assignments as Supply Officer
and Navigator of USS Reeves (CG24) and Supply Officer of USS San
Diego (AFS6) during two Sixth Fleet deployments. He has been
designated a qualified Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer.
Shore Duty assignments include Personal Aide and Customer
Services Division Director, Naval Supply Center, Charleston, SC;
Supply Corps Personnel Branch Detailer, Naval Supply Systems
Command, Washington, DC; Fuel Department Director, Naval Supply
Center Puget Sound, Bremerton, WA; Joint Petroleum Officer on
the staff of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet,
Norfolk, VA; Commanding Officer, Navy Petroleum Office,
Alexandria, VA; Head Logistics Analysis Section (OP801E) on the
staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, DC;
Assistant Chief of Staff, Supply and Financial Management and
ADP on the staff of the Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S.
Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, VA; Commanding Officer, Navy Management
Systems Support Office, Chesapeake, VA; Deputy Commander, Fleet
Logistics Operations and Vice Commander, Naval Supply Systems
Command, Washington, DC and Director, Logistics and Fleet Supply
Officer on the staff of the United States Atlantic Fleet,
Norfolk, VA. Rear Admiral Ruble retired from active military
service on 1 November 1998 after thirty three years of
dedicated service.
His service awards include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal,
the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the
Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and
various unit and campaign ribbons and medals.
Since leaving active service, Rear Admiral Ruble has worked as a
Regional Vice President and Vice President for Strategic
Planning for two Defense Industry Companies working with the
acquisition of the Navy's newest surface combatant (DDX) and
with various maintenance, logistics and combat systems support
programs.
